1052-2   21hhdw.ns     ((BISMUTHINITE, GARNET, CALCITE, CHALCOPYRITE)),  $50 MINIMUM BID, Creola Mine, Beaver County, Utah, 6 x 4 x 3 cm,  Miniature,  Acicular metallic crystals of Bismuthinite in Calcite with Garnet and Chalcopyrite.  Typically the Calcite is dissoved in HCl to expose the Bismuthinite crystals.  This specimen is more unique with cleaved Calcite faces as seen.    ex Dana Wilson MD collection #831  
 
1052-3   14btcetrs.tr     ((FLUORITE)),  $100 MINIMUM BID, Shangbao Mine, Leiuang County, Hunan County, China, 7.5 x 4.5 x 2.5 cm,  Cabinet,  Aqua blue transparent Fluorite from China with some white micro crystalline Quartz druze.  This undamaged Fluorite has multiple stepped faces on the top and a small lustrous crystal faces on the more flat healed bottom of the specimen prior to growth healing was a shard from a large Fluorite crystals.  This was a Collectors Edge specimen purchased by me in 2014 from Collectors Edge Wholesale.  Collectors Edge Wholesale had it individually priced at wholesale for dealers with a retail price of $350 ten years ago.   
1052-4   2btad.nrs     ((HEMATITE pseudomorph from MAGNETITE)),  $85 MINIMUM BID, Payun Volcano, Payun Matru, Mendoza, Argentina, 6 x 2.5 x 2.5 cm,  Miniature,  This was from the original new find in 2002 first sold at Tucson's Executive Inn Annex third floor by an Argentina collector and new dealer and first time at Tucson with his new find.  He had 4 eight foot tables with thousands of specimens laid out without boxes or labels touching each other on the flat tables.  The specimens were excellent great hoppered pseudomorph specimens. Prices by size $50 thumbnails $250 miniatures $400-500 cabinets $1000+ large cabinets/large specimens.  The dealer had no US bank account and only took cash and made trips to the hotel safe nearly hourly and was able to put his son through 4 years of college with the funds from his gross sales.  He was the hit of the the show that year with large sales from many if not most dealers and rock.  Some discount for large multiple specimen purchases.  He sold half to three quarters of the specimens with the tables completely full at the beginning with specimens able to be spread out with lots of room between specimen.  I made several trips to the room as I made sales from my setup down on the first floor of the annex and got more money to make additional purchases at the show.   I got multiple sizes of specimens.  I sold one of the three large specimens with the two in my collection.  In the years following the initial offering more specimens showed up at shows for about 5 years at less prices but for lesser quality specimen.  I have not see the large quanities available any longer.  Argentina required a permit to collect a the volcano locality and a permit to export Argentina mineral specimen.

1051-2   15btcq.ess    ((FIBROUS SUGILITE)), SOLD AUS50   $400 MINIMUM BID, N'Chwaning Mine, Kuruman, Northern Cape, South Africa, 5.5 x 3.5 x 2.5 cm  Miniature,  This find was the first of the fibrous Sugilite in about 2014.  Other than this find no additional has been found.  The find was kept secret for a few years to give time to look for more specimens near the original find but no additonal specimens were found.  The origianl dealer at Tucson marketing the find has only a couple of stray specimens left.  The wholesale prices have doubled from him currently with only a few available.  I acquired a number of specimens in 2015 from him.  All less than 300 to 400 sold out.  This is one of only a few left at less than $1000.  This specimen had a retail price of $800. It was coverage on two of the four sides as show and is chatoyant especially on the more narrom side.

1050-4   8bttg.ng SOLD UT179   ((MIMETITE)),  $30 MINIMUM BID, Ojuela Mine, Mapimi, Durango, Mexico, 10 x 6 x 3 cm,  Cabinet,  Nice coverage of Mimetite on this Ojuela Mine specimen.  Santa Eulalia mine is the prevalent Mimetite locality in Mexico.  Ojuela did not produce near as many.      
 
1050-5   21hhco.ns  SOLD CA201  ((COMPLETE FOSSIL CLAM, GOLDEN CALCITE)),  $30 MINIMUM BID, Ruck's Pit, Fort Drum, Okeechobee County, Fluorida,  9 x 7 x 4 cm,  Cabinet,  Here is a complete fossil clam with both valves from Ruck's Pit. Its famous for partial fossil clam shell with beautiful golden lustrous Calcite.  The inside of this specimen is hollow without any Calcite.  It does have some Calcite on the exterior by the hinged part of the shell.  It is rare to find an undamaged shell and nearly impossible to find both sides forming a complete clam with both valves.   The species is Merceneria permagna from the Pleistocene, Thompson formation 2 million years old.  Just a few years ago in geological time.  Charles Oldham collection from old rockshop inventory in Kentucky.    
 
1050-6   21hhdw.is    ((BARITE "ROSE")),  $15 MINIMUM BID, Norman, Cleveland County, Oklahoma,  6 x 5 x 4 cm,  Miniature,  These Barite roses are encased in solid sandstone.  Over many years of wind and water erosion the sand gradually is removed the Barite cluster of crystals forming a rose weather out and finally falls to the sandy ground.   Back in the mid 70's I installed post office equipment in Norman at the post office maintenance training facility and went rock hounding and collected a few of these.  Mainly small ones and most are rather irregular blobs and shapes.  Roses are fairly accessible but it takes some looking to find the specimens that actually look like a rose.  At least this is the case in the area that I collected.  The sandstone formation extends throughout the county and there are serveral other towns/areas in the county that they are found.   Mostly specimens show up out of collections like this one.  ex Dana Wilson MD collection #779     
1050-7  21hhdw.is SOLD AUS50   ((SMITHSONITE, HEMIMORPHITE)),  $1O MINIMUM BID, San Antonio Mine, Santa Eulalia, Chihuahua, Mexico,  6.5 x 5 x 3.5 cm,  Miniature,  These are called rice grain Smithsonite crystals.  They are a pale sea green color with a camphor luster.  ex Dana Wilson MD collection #310.     
 
1050-8   21hhdw.is SOLD CA201   ((QUARTZ)),  $10 MINIMUM BID, Wise Mine, Westmoreland, New Hampshire,  6.5 x 6.5 x 2 cm,  Miniature,  Dana Wilson was a Quartz collector.  This specimen came from the mine owners JoLynne Assc. on Poocham Rd. in Westmorland.  The mine is famous for its green Fluorite octahedral crystals but also the Fluorite specimens many times and Quartz also.  This is just Quartz with the mine owners label and back side price sticker of $5 when Gold was $300 an ounze or probably less. ex Dana Wilson MD collection #881.E.  Dana label and the number dot that came off the specimen.   
 
1050-9   21hhdw.is SOLD AUS50   ((ROSE MUSCOVITE, CLEAVELANDITE)),  $15 MINIMUM BID, Harding Mine, Taos County, New Mexico,  4 x 3.5 x 3 cm,  Miniature,  Rose colored Lithium rich Muscovite on white Cleavelandite a variety of Albite.   I believe this is the only locality for Rose/Pink colored Muscovite.  Purple is known as Lepidolite and has a vast numbner of localities.  ex Dana Wilson MD collection #679

1050-12   21hhdw.is    ((FLUORITE)),  $10 MINIMUM BID, Blanchard Mine, Socorro County, New Mexico,  5.5 x 4 x 2.5 cm,  Miniature,  Dana's lable says Yaogangxian Mine, China.  I think it is classic Bingham translucent blue cubic Fluorite with a matte luster on a white opaque Matrix.  It could use some chemical cleaning to remove the white coating in areas.  ex Dana Wilson MD collection 903.

1050-15   7hhch.r    ((QUARTZ SCEPTER)),  $1O MINIMUM BID, Spruce Ridge, North Bend, Washington,  2.5 x 1.5 x 1.5 cm,  Thumbnail,  Here is a robust scepter Quartz from Spruce Ridge.  ex Clyde Harding collection.  Clyde dug Magnet Hill, Arkansas specimens and traded with other collectors and dealers from all over the world.  This was probably from a trade with someone from Washington State.    
 
1050-16   19hhdf.g  SOLD UTLK  ((WULFENITE)),  $20 MINIMUM BID, 79 Mine, Hayden, Arizona,  2 x 2 x 1 cm,  Thumbnail,  Lustrous transparent yellow orange  Wulfenite crystal on matrix in a thumbnail size.  Top right corner is missing and some minor chipping along the top edge as seen.  If perfect it would be 100+ maybe alot of pluses.  ex Don Fratto collection.        
 
1050-17   21hhdw.r    ((LIBETHENITE)),  $10 MINIMUM BID, Childs-Adwinkle Mine, Copper Creek, Pinal County, Arizona,  4 x 3.5 x 2.5 cm,  Miniature,  All specimens on mindat.org state the locality of Old Reliable Mine.  It seems like Childs-Adwinkle is another mine in the Copper Creek area.  Goggle brings up the Childs-Adwinkle Mine.   Perhaps they were collected by Joe Marty and gifted to Dana Wilson.  The specimen has nice micro acicular crystals of Libethenite.  ex Dana Wilson MD collection #907.

1048-14 SOLD AUS50  5btdb.nr    ((EPIDOTE)),  $30 MINIMUM BID, North Eastern Province, Kenya, 3.5 x 1 x .5 cm, Thumbnail to Miniature,  This is currently in a perky box and fits diagonally in the box.  It is a pair of terminated Epidote crystals from this limited fine in Kenya sponsored by Wayne Thompson that had several flats of thumbnails and miniatures and a superb pricey group of Cabinet and large Cabinet sized specimens at five figure prices back in approximately 2005 when gold and eating out  was still cheap compared with todays prices.   You never see any of those specimens anymore.  I bought the lot of thumbnails to miniatures and I have some of the miniatures and smaller cabinets still available in Tucson at the Sun Gemstone-Mineral Garden-1801 N Oracle Wholesale show unit 8 by Mineral City Shows. These specimens are not seen very often if ever in any other dealers inventory.

1043-2   6hhjh.iss    ((TOPAZ)),   $85 MINIMUM BID, Topaz Mountain, Thomas Range, Juab County, Utah, 3.8 x 2 x 2 cm, Miniature, Undamaged terminated gemmy lustrous cluster of sherry colored Topaz crystals.  The main crystal is undamaged sharply terminated gemmy transparent in the center section of the crystal.  The top and bottom third has quartz/clay inclustions blocking most of the transparency in those areas.  The daughter crystals are shorter lustrous terminated gemmy sherry colored crystals.  The main crystal is very large fore the locality with only extremely small percentage of crystals this large free standing .  Many of the large crystals are also flat sideways with the back of the crystal attached to the Rhyolite matrix rock.   ex John Holfert specimen.  NOTE:  Do not display over very long periods of time in sunlight or will fade.  Exposing to strong radiation will supposily restore the color for those working at a nuclear reactor site.

1043-10   21henc.r  SOLD AUS50   ((GOETHITE/HEMATITE pseudomorph afer MARCASITE aka PROPHECY STONE)),   $15 MINIMUM BID, White Desert, Egypt, 3.8 x 1.5 x 1.5 cm, Miniature, Undamaged dumbbell shaped specimen of Prophecy Stone wich is really a neat pseudomorph of either Goethite or Hematite after Marcasite from Egypt.   Originally they were called Goethite and then I heard Hematite.  Look like Geothite to me.  These are totally undamaged.  The majority of ones on the market have some damage with some being pror to pseudomorphing and some post pseudomorphing.    Meta physical market has named them Prophecy Stones.  Some have Jack (from ball and jacks game) crystals extending star like.  Others have various shapes.   This one can be easily carried in a purse or pocket for the metaphysical properties.  This one with some others I hand picked out for their form and damage free conditions.

1043-15   5btbf.is    ((QUARTZ Scepter)),   $40 MINIMUM BID, Liliana Mine, Chihuahua, Mexico, 1.5 x 1 x 1 cm, Thumbnail, Terminated Quartz crystal with a ring of terminated crysals around the termination.  I have had these described as chandeliers.  Looking down from the top the the outer faces form a hexagonal shape, each faces with several terminated Quartz crystals.  This must be some type of cyclic twin around the central Quartz crytals.  I have seen cyclic twinning  in Fluorites.  This also resembles a flower a/though different from the hoppered quartz flowers from the Dugway Range in Utah.   ex Benny Fenn specimen from a find 20 years ago.  This is the only one with this odd cyclic hexagonal ring of Quartz on a main Quartz crytal.

The main find was discovered about 2000 and were a hugh success at the executive inn at the Tucson show.  Thumbnails  were $50, miniatures were $250, and cabinets $500 plus.  Three 8 foot tables were completely covered with specimens without any boxes or labels.  Cash only sales.  Buyers picked out themselves.  The dealer, discoverer completely paid for his sons college 4 years of tuition.  He kept running back and forth to the hotel safe stashing cash all day long everyday for two plus weeks.  He must of filled suitcase with cash! I made multiple trips up to his room as I sold during the show my specimens and got more cash to go up and buy many specimens. including thumbnail, minitures and three large cabinets.  I spent most of the money from my sales in his room.  I had a room on the first floor of the Exccutive Inn and he was on the third floor.  These specimens were on Argentina Indiana land and needed a specimen permission and government approval or license to export.  ex Don Fratto collection.

Matrix on sides and back is still brown.

It is not a valid mineral name. These are  pseudomorphs of Dahllite, Carbonate Hydroxyapatite after Pyrite  June 1, 1958 American Mineralogist abstract from specimens studied that were collected in 1955 near Rainbow Canyon.    ex Don Fratto collection.  


1038-5   19hhdf.g   ((AMMOLITE)),    $15 MINIMUM BID,  Utah, 3 x 3 x .2 cm, Thumbnail, Color of mostly red orange with some green.  this is a Utah Ammonite.   Ammolite is well known from Canada with the huge colorful Ammonite specimens available for the rich and famous decorator fossil collectors.  Small fragments of these large Ammonites go by the gem name of Ammolite.  This specimen is from a local Utah small private claim.  The colorful specimen is coated with an epoxy to strength and protect the specimen used in wirewrap jewelry.   ex Don Fratto collection.

1036-4  19hhdf.g   ((ARAGONITE pseudomorph after GLAUBERITE)),    $15 MINIMUM BID, Camp Verde, Yavapai County, Arizona,  9 x 5.5 x 2 cm, Cabinet,   Very large specimen of this well know Arizona psuedomorph that comes in Calcite, Aragonite, and Gypsum pseudomorphs after Glauberite.  No damage with sharp edges.  ex Don Fratto collection.    


1036-5 19hhdf.g SOLD UTLK  ((ORPIMENT)),    $30 MINIMUM BID, Mercur Mine, Tooele County, Utah, 7 x 4.5 x 3.5 cm,  Cabinet,   Crystalized  yellow Orpiment.  I think this is a showy display specimen.  Normally Realgar and Orpiment do not do well in the direct sun or high heat.  The best gemmy red Realgar are usuall stored in a box away from extended periods in light.   Orpiment is not as sensitive as Realgar which will change from red  to orange pararealgar. which is not desired.  Matrix is a dark grey shale/limestone.  Mecur was open pit mined by Barrick Gold for its microscopic Gold and has been filled and reclaimed.  No specimen collecting left for many years.  The local club had the last supervised by Barrick short collecting trip in the late nineties for Stibiconite and Realgar, Orpiment.    ex Don Fratto collection.     


1036-8    19hhdf.g    ((PLATTNERITE, HEMIMORPHITE)),    $5 MINIMUM BID, Hidden Treasure Mine, Tooele County, Utah,   3 x 2.5 x 1 cm, Miniature,  Collected by Phil Richardson, with Don's old label adding Zincite but mindat does not show Zincite from the locality.  I think mislabeled by Don.  Clusters of terminated Hemimorphite with Plattnerite inclusions causing the dark black brown color.  Don Fratto collection.     


1036-10    19hhdf.g   ((QUARTZ)),    $10 MINIMUM BID, Gold Hill Mine, Tooele County, Utah,  7.5 x 6 x 4 cm, Cabinet,  The Quartz was collected by Otto Reiter and purchased by Don at an auction with Otto's collection.  Terminated and crudely terminated with a few broken crytals showing the white interminal Quartz.  Crystals have the typical dark brown Gold Hill Quartz coating covering the Quartz crystals.  ex Don Fratto collection.

1035-9    19hhdf.g    ((STAUROLITE, ALMANDINE)),    $25 MINIMUM BID, Mineral Bluff, Fannin County, Georgia, 3.7 x 2.5 x 2 cm, Miniature,  Large double terminated twinned Staurolite, with Almandine which was mislabeled as Andalusite  from Georgia.  Chrystal still has some Muscovite remnants attached.  It has part of an old label glued on and may from an very old collection.  It is also pitted with siz sided holes with several still contained partial Almandine Garnet crystals.   ex Don Fratto collection.

1034-5    19hhdf.g  SOLD UTLK   ((CALCITE)),    $20 MINIMUM BID, Bingham Pit, Bingham Canyon Copper Mine, Salt Lake County, Utah.  5 x 4.5 x 4 cm, Miniature,  Don acquired from University of Utah Geology and Geophysic Department December 31, 2006 from helping and volunteer work for the Geolopy Department.  Calcite specimens from Bingham Canyon Mine were rarely collected and so are uncommon to rare in existance.  Mindat only has 5 specimen photos.  This is a great addition to a Utah collection.   ex Don Fratto collection.    


1034-6  19hhak.g    ((GLAUBERITE)),    $10 MINIMUM BID, Bertram Siding Sulfate Deposit,  4.3 x 3 x 3 cm, Miniature,  4.3 cm main undamaged double terminated crystal with smaller side crystals on each side.  Only about 6 photos on mindat.   Arizona is well known for its Gypsum and Calcite pseudomorphs after Glauberite but I had not seen these up until a couple of years ago.  This locality is a few miles from the Salton Sea.  Perhaps collecting is restricted and limited specimens in collections.    ex Artem Kovalev collection.
