Here is a Cambrian age trilobite from the Wheeler Shale formation. The
name is Elrathia kingi. The largest one is 4 cm long. Average
size is 2 to 3 cm. So this is a larger than usual specimen. This
specimen also has a rare healed bite mark. Other sea creatures ate
these trilobites. The lower ribs are not as wide and they are also shorter than the
top ribs. This is evidence that a non lethal bite was taken and the
wound healed and carapace partially regrew but left a scar.

Miniature, Here is a matrix Boleite specimen with 3 dark blue lustrous
undamaged Boleite crystals to .5 cm. The crystals are cubic with
small and large octahedral modification causing the corners to be
beveled. One crystal has unusually pronounced corner beveling.
These were mined by Swaboda who worked the mine for specimens in, I
believe the 70's or 80's. Minor green on the front but lots of
green on the backside is green Paratacamite. NOTE: DO NOT GET THE
MATRIX WET! Most of these are on a matrix that sucks up water and comes
apart. This one is better matrix than most but also looks like it
has been stabilized with Elmers glue and water mix. With an
eyedropper minimal of droplets of dilute Elmers are allowed to soak into
the matrix and dry. They leave a little shiny surface residue when
dry. ex Swaboda.

Thumbnail, Here are crystals of Magnetite from this iron mine owned by
Bethlehem Steel, once a major steel producer located in south eastern
Pennsylvania. Specimens were not collected or saved to any great
extent on this underground operation. A few were brought out in
lunchboxes. The main shaft was sealed with tons of concrete and the
vast mine property sold. Investors purchased the property and turned
it into the town of Morgan. It now is the home of an incinerator and a
constant line of trash trucks arrive from Philadelphia each day with the
Pennsylvania turnpike exit and entrance just across the road from the old
mine property.

rock is gone leaving the Quartz cast which is hollow and line with druzy
Quartz. There are two current small openings showing the hollow center lined
in micro druzy Quartz.
