FIBROUS SUGILITE GALLERY Page 1
One of the highlights at the Tucson 2015 show was a limited first time find of a
rare purple mineral, fibrous Sugilite. This was actually discovered just
prior to the 2014 Tucson show and held back to see how much more would be found.
Nothing more was found and it was brought to the show in 2015. At the
start of the Tucson show another website had specimens listed for sale at approx
5 times prices here for the quality specimens. The best quality specimens
show the chatoyancy similar to fibrous Malachite except they are purple and not
green. Lesser quality are the lighter specimens. I was very early at
the show and seen them as they were being unpacked by a South African dealer.
I was able to thoroughly go through the five flats of specimens. I
arranged them by price and picked the best out of all the different prices,
matrix and non matrix pieces, and a variety of sizes. I got two flats with
an excellent variety, about 60 to 65 specimens of the best out of the 5 flats. March 2015 |
